GM- Mining Operations
Job Summary
The General Manager – Mining Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, safety, and profitability of the mining operation in the Guayana region. This role oversees all site functions including mining, processing, maintenance, HSE, logistics, security, and community relations, ensuring production targets are met in compliance with local regulations and international best practices.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on-site mining and processing operations to achieve production, cost, and quality targets.
- Develop and execute short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans in alignment with corporate strategy.
- Ensure optimal utilization of equipment, manpower, and resources.”
- Drive continuous improvement in productivity, cost control, and operational efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with local mining laws, environmental regulations, and company HSE standards
- Oversee environmental management, rehabilitation plans, and sustainability initiatives.
- Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets
- Control operating costs and improve cost per tonne/ounce metrics
- Review financial performance, KPIs, and variance analyses.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and results.
- Ensure effective workforce planning, training, and succession planning
- Provide accurate and timely operational and management reports to head office
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance, policies, and ethical standards
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid heavy equipment operator license/certification.
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in mining operations, with 5+ years in a senior management or GM role.
- Strong experience in open-pit and/or underground mining ( Stone )
- Proven track record of managing large, remote mining operations in challenging environments.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE systems and regulatory compliance
