Job Summary
We are looking for a talented, passionate, and experienced Chef to join our construction project in Guyana.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, wholesome, and satisfying meals for our project team and site workers, ensuring that every member of our workforce is well-fed, energized, and ready to perform at their best each day.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare a variety of dishes according to restaurant standards and customer preferences
- Ensure all food preparation meets quality, hygiene, and presentation standards.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques and safety practices
- Monitor portion control, minimize food waste, and manage kitchen inventory.
Qualification
- Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Preparation, or Hospitality Management from a recognized institution
- Food Safety and Hygiene certification such as HACCP, ServSafe, or equivalent is strongly preferred
- Certificate in Health & Safety in Food Handling is an advantage
- Proficiency in basic kitchen mathematics including measurements, portioning, and recipe scaling
- Knowledge of nutritional requirements and balanced meal planning for a large workforce
- Familiarity with Guyanese cuisine, Caribbean cooking styles, and international dishes is highly desirable
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for managing kitchen inventory, recipes, and supply requisitions
Experience:
Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven cooking experience in a professional kitchen, camp catering, industrial canteen, hotel, or restaurant setting
