Director of Design and Construction
The ideal candidate is a highly analytical leader who will join our senior management team. You will be responsible for leading the company’s day-to-day business operations (managing the company budget, ensuring operational compliance is followed, and addressing administrative issues).
Job description
- Oversee all phases of development, from procurement of the architecture, engineering and construction team to existing conditions assessments, programming, feasibility studies, estimating and budgeting, schematic design through construction documentation, regulatory submissions, bidding, construction, and project close-out.
- Work with CEO to deliver forward-thinking design projects.
- Monitor and ensure project goals, including scope, budget and schedule, are met.
- Provide project supervision of departmental Project Managers and advise/direct on a continual basis to ensure proper momentum and path.
- Execute a risk-based management approach to project delivery which includes identifying project risk, forecasting project risk and appropriately mitigating project risk.
- Anticipate regulatory and approval processes as well as critical path work-flow to ensure positive project momentum.
- Lead and influence project teams to achieve desired outcomes.
- Provide oversight and mentorship of junior and intermediate project managers on the team, including monitoring performance, providing coaching and feedback.
- Interface with senior staff level officials at related Gov’t Agencies.
- Build and develop effective working relationships with various consultants, Construction Managers, Project Managers and various Agency partners
Qualifications
- Must have 7+ years of relevant professional experience in architecture, construction, real estate development
- Must have prior experience in gated communities.
- Design development and construction experience in single and multi family residential experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects from start to finish
- Demonstrated ability leading teams and developing and mentoring staff
- Outstanding relationship management, communications (written and verbal) and presentations skills
- Demonstrated track record of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency and experience with construction, building management and maintenance software preferred
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and independent, detailed oriented, strong package work ethic, high integrity and ethical standards.
- Perform under heavy time and workload pressure.
- Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
- Be personable, likable, a listener and a team player.
- Be open to and willing to accept input and direction.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Excellent financial analysis skills, with strong Excel proficiency
