Senior Physiotherapist
The Senior Physiotherapist is a highly skilled and experienced healthcare professional specializing in physical therapy. This role involves providing advanced physiotherapy services, leading a team of physiotherapists, supervising treatment plans, conducting assessments, and implementing evidence-based interventions to promote recovery, rehabilitation, and improved physical function. This position reports to CMO.
Job Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical conditions, including mobility, strength, range of motion, and functional abilities. Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessments, medical histories, and goals. Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy, and other interventions to facilitate optimal recovery and improved physical function.
- Clinical Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to a team of physiotherapists, including assigning caseloads, supervising treatment plans, and providing ongoing training and mentorship. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, standards of care, and best practices in physiotherapy.
- Specialized Expertise: Utilize specialized skills and knowledge in a specific area of physiotherapy practice, such as orthopedics, neurology, sports medicine, or geriatrics. Implement advanced techniques, modalities, and interventions specific to the area of specialization to optimize patient outcomes.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatment options, and self-management techniques to facilitate active participation in their own recovery and long-term well-being. Provide guidance on exercises, ergonomics, assistive devices, and lifestyle modifications to promote independence and prevent re-injury.
- Rehabilitation Planning: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapist, Senior wellness/Naturopathy consultant, Yoga instructors, and fitness trainer, to develop comprehensive rehabilitation plans for patients with complex medical conditions or post-operative recovery needs. Monitor progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
- Research and Quality Improvement: Engage in research activities, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of physiotherapy services. Stay updated with the latest advancements, techniques, and research in the field. Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, protocols, and best practice recommendations.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcome measures. Adhere to legal and ethical guidelines for patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development by attending conferences, workshops, and educational programs. Stay abreast of current trends, research, and advancements in physiotherapy. Share knowledge, mentor junior staff, and contribute to professional growth within the field.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Physiotherapy
- Valid license or registration to practice as a physiotherapist.
- Substantial experience as a physiotherapist, with demonstrated expertise in a specific area of practice (e.g., orthopedics, neurology, etc.).
- Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
- Profound knowledge of physiotherapy theories, principles, and practices.
- Excellent manual therapy and therapeutic exercise skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in using physiotherapy-specific tools and technologies.
- Commitment to professional ethics, patient-centered care, and evidence-based practice.
