Senior Yoga Therapist
The Senior Yoga Therapist is a highly skilled and experienced professional specializing in therapeutic applications of yoga to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This role involves assessing clients’ needs, designing personalized yoga programs, leading therapeutic sessions, and guiding individuals towards achieving their health goals through the integration of yoga practices. This position reports to RMO.
Job Responsibilities:
- Client Assessment and Individualized Program Design: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ physical, emotional, and mental health to identify specific needs, concerns, and goals. Develop tailored yoga therapy programs based on the assessments, considering the clients’ conditions, limitations, and preferences.
- Therapeutic Yoga Sessions: Lead individual or group yoga therapy sessions, guiding clients through a range of yoga techniques, including asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness practices. Modify and adapt practices to meet the unique needs and abilities of clients.
- Personalized Treatment Plans: Develop detailed treatment plans that include specific goals, recommended practices, and progression strategies. Educate clients on the therapeutic benefits of yoga, teaching them how to practice safely and effectively on their own to enhance their well-being.
- Progress Monitoring and Adjustment: Regularly assess clients’ progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Monitor and document changes in clients’ physical, emotional, and mental states, noting improvements, challenges, and modifications needed for optimal results.
- Client Education and Empowerment: Educate clients on the principles and philosophy of yoga, its therapeutic applications, and how it supports overall health and wellness. Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques, and self-care practices that complement the yoga therapy sessions.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals: Collaborate and communicate with other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists, Consulting doctor, and wellness supervisor, to integrate yoga therapy into clients’ overall treatment plans. Ensure coordinated care, share progress reports, and seek input or referrals when necessary.
- Continuous Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest research, developments, and best practices in yoga therapy. Attend workshops, seminars, and training programs to expand knowledge, refine skills, and maintain professional certifications.
- Program Promotion and Community Engagement: Participate in marketing and promotional activities to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga therapy. Contribute to community outreach programs, workshops, or wellness events to engage with the public and advocate for the integration of yoga therapy into healthcare practices.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master degree (Msc/M.A) in Yoga with advanced training in yoga therapy from a recognized yoga therapy institution.
- Extensive experience as a yoga therapist, preferably with specialization in specific areas such as mental health, chronic pain management, or rehabilitation.
- Deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, psychology, and the therapeutic applications of yoga.
- Strong assessment and observation skills to identify clients’ needs and progress.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport, build trust, and effectively convey instructions and guidance.
- Empathy, compassion, and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment for clients.
- Knowledge of different yoga styles, techniques, and modifications to accommodate various populations and conditions.
- Familiarity with research methodologies and evidence-based practices in yoga therapy.
- Commitment to professional ethics, ongoing learning, and maintaining personal yoga practice.
- Proficiency in using technology for client documentation, progress tracking, and communication.
