Purpose:
We are looking to hire an electrician to join our team. You will be responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from technical blueprints. To perform in this role, you need an electrician degree from a technical college and experience in the field working on simple and complex electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
Diagnosis and Repair:
- Identify electrical issues in heavy equipment machinery through diagnostic tools and techniques
- Troubleshoot problems related to wiring, circuits, switches, sensors, and other electrical components
Maintenance:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure electrical systems are in optimal condition
- Check for loose connections, inspect cables and wires for wear and tear, and test batteries and charging systems (self-starter, alternator, fuse box, AC motors, and others)
Installation:
- Install new electrical components or upgrade existing ones as per specifications or regulatory standards
- Install lighting systems, GPS tracking devices, safety alarms, or other electrical accessories required for machinery
Wiring and Rewiring:
- Wire or rewire machinery as needed, ensuring proper insulation and secure connections to prevent short circuits or electrical failures
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities
- Track the history of each machinery’s electrical system and assist in planning future maintenance schedules
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations and standards
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures, use personal protective equipment, and adhere to electrical codes and guidelines
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to troubleshoot complex issues or integrate electrical systems with mechanical or hydraulic components
Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to workshop staff on basic electrical principles, safety procedures, and troubleshooting techniques
Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated with advancements in electrical technology and heavy equipment machinery to address evolving challenges and improve service quality
Expected Skills:
- Mining experience
- HEMM (Heavy Earth Moving Machinery) experience
- Experience operating diagnostic equipment
